¶ To the chanter upon Mahalath, an instruction of David. The foolish bodies say in their hearts: Tush, there is no God. Corrupt are they, and become abominable in their wickednesses, there is not one that doth good. God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that would understand, or seek after God. But they are all gone out of the way, they are all become unprofitable: there is none that doth good, no not one. How can they have understanding, that are the workers of wickedness, eating up my people as it were bread, and call not upon God. They are afraid, where no fear is: for God breaketh the bones of them that besiege thee: thou puttest them to confusion, for God despiseth them. Oh that the saving health were given unto Israel out of Sion: Oh that the Lorde would deliver his people out of captivity. Then should Iacob rejoice, and Israel should be right glad.
